We received £17,210 in Sports Premium for 2022-23. We have bought into the Arthur Mellows Village College (AMVC) Sports partnership with our cluster schools at a cost of £4,000.00 (Sep ‘22 – Aug ‘23): this allows John Clare Primary to take part in a variety of sporting events, staff to be trained and equipment to be borrowed from AMVC if required.  We continue to hire a sports coach for two days a week.  We continue to use these partnerships to develop the quality of PE teaching throughout school and to ensure that the children continue to have access to competitions and festivals. This provision is monitored internally and as a Cluster.

In March 2022, PE was a focus ‘deep dive’ subject during our Ofsted inspection. Ofsted reported: ‘The curriculum provides high-sporting opportunities. The school is rightly proud of pupils’ sporting successes in local and regional competitions.’
